Take package contents and stir into 2 cups cold water until smooth. Let mixture stand about 10 minutes to thicken.
Take mixture and form into balls (about 2 inches in diameter). Place two or three crutons in the center and roll into a solid ball, trying to make sure the crutons are not visible.
Place dumplings into a large pot of boiling salted water. Cook over medium heat, uncovered, for about 20 minutes.
Remove from water and serve hot. Makes around 8 dumplings.
